Dairy Causes Inflammation feat. Mark Hyman and Mikkhaila Peterson | What the Fitness?! | Biolayne

A recent interview of Dr. Mark Hymen by Mikkhaila Peterson made various claims about dairy intake that are simply NOT true. Hymen claimed that 75% of people were lactose intolerant (false) and that dairy could increase inflammation (false) and various other false health claims about dairy. In this video we will specifically focus on his claims of 75% of the population being lactose intolerant and dairy’s effects on inflammation

Prevalence of lactose intolerance:

Children: 0-19% [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29222879/](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29222879/)

Global prevalence of lactose malabsorption is 55%. As high as 70% in the middle east and as low as 28% in parts of europe: [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28690131/](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28690131/)

In North America lactose malabsorption is divergent amongst populations: [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3140651/](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3140651/)

-21% for Caucasians

-75% for african americans

Most of the risk of dairy associated with cancer is driven by high fat dairy & it’s association with prostate cancer, but even this association is very inconsistent: [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089741/](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089741/)
