A new ENORMOUS review of the effect of dietary fiber on longevity & disease just came out & it is IMPRESSIVE (PMID: 40651334). This umbrella review contained data from over 17 MILLION SUBJECTS
You read that right… 17 million. This study found that people who consumed more fiber lived longer, had lower risk of cardiovascular disease, diverticulitis, coronary heart disease, and a shitload of different cancers
Fiber exerts it’s effects by improving gut microbiota diversity & health, enhancing insulin sensitivity, & improving blood lipids. It also improves gut motility & stool elimination which may reduce risk of colon cancer due to carcinogenic compounds produced during digestion having less time to interact with intestinal cells.
Don’t listen to carnivore idiots. If you don’t want to die earlier than you have to, eat your damned fiber. Try to shoot for 25g+ per day from a diverse array of sources
