I’m not sure what ‘Joel-pilled’ is but I’m assuming it’s more of the same nonsense about how you should only train a joint to 90 degrees & you shouldn’t do deep squats blah blah blah. Joel claims that partial range of motion is better for strength & muscle.
The ONLY data showing that partials are as good (it doesn’t show them being better) as full range of motion (ROM) is with LENGTHENED partials which is the opposite of what Joel promotes (PMID: 33977835). Joel promotes partials in the shortened position. There are literally NO studies demonstrating that partials in the shortened position are better than full ROM. None. The research shows very clearly that full ROM is superior for building muscle & strength compared to partial range of motion in the shortened position (PMID: 34170576)
So if you wanna get ‘Joel-pilled’ it probably means you’re going to train like a wuss to avoid getting ouchies from having to actually squat deep & do other difficult things. If you want to get big & strong then you better be willing to train your muscles through long muscle lengths
